August 19th Meeting Minutes

Present: Kelsey Mattingly, Mollie Medley, Joy Janes, Jackie Stevens, Sarah Swarts, Lisa Rucker, and Jessica Scheerhorn

Trends in KPREP Data (four years):

  • Teachers are consistant but students have changed
  • Both subjects demonstrated a increase novice/ apprentice and a decrease in proficient/distinguished this year.
  • Hard to provide reading materials based on Common Core when resources do not align to Common Core.
  • Math program was only implemented at the end of last year and is very difficult to implement when it doesn't correlate with math pacing guide.
  • Writing program is great but is very time consuming.
Ways to accomplish a reduction in novices/apprentices:
  • Meeting with intervention teachers to learn new programs
  • Provided with two intervention periods
  • Testing kids in second grade with time limits and constructed responses
  • Time tests/ and constructed responses - Labor Day
  • Intrinsic motivation strategies
Discussion of Data Analysis
  • Data Analysis Graph
  • Quarterly Plan for all students
    • Novice - considered tier III kids
    • Apprentice - hardest to move, lack motivation, poor attendance, truancy, most important area to build relationships, think outside the box, they can TIP the scale
    • Proficient - 65 percentile or higher on MAP , need to sustain,
    • Distinguished - Sustain
Discussion of Dirty Data
  • Looked at reading scores and put them into categories based on scores
